What is Maurten Drink Mix?

Maurten Drink Mix is a liquid carbohydrate sports fuel based on Hydrogel Technology. It is the fueling platform behind some of the greatest performances in history — particularly in the marathon. When mixed with 500 ml of water, it produces a performance-ready, liquid carbohydrate fuel for consumption during training and racing.
 
Drink Mix is not like other sports drinks. Based on Hydrogel Technology, Drink Mix instantly converts to a gel in the acidity of the stomach — the gel encapsulates the carbohydrates and carries them through the stomach to the intestine to be absorbed and used as fuel.

How do I prepare Drink Mix?

1. Use a Maurten 500 ml water bottle or Maurten Drinkflask 550 ml.

2. Fill the bottle with clean water (with up to 80 mg of calcium per liter of water) to the neck. Maurten 500 ml bottles have this fill-line marked. The Maurten Drinkflask 550 ml has an additional 50 ml of capacity for mixing the powder.

3. Pour the sachet of Drink Mix into the bottle — on top of the water.

4. Shake vigorously until the Drink Mix is fully dissolved in the water, with no lumps or residual mix at the bottom of the bottle.  

What are the differences between the different Drink Mix products?

Maurten Drink Mix is a liquid carbohydrate sports fuel that — unlike other sports drinks — uses Hydrogel Technology. It’s a drinkable gel — transforming from a liquid to a hydrogel when coming into contact with stomach acid. This helps to reduce the discomfort of liquid sloshing in the stomach, making it easier for athletes to consume liquid carbohydrate fuel during high-intensity exercise.
